Restoring Colorado River Ecosystems: A Troubled Sense of Immensity by Robert W. Adler, explores the many questions and challenges surrounding the issue of large-scale restoration of the Colorado River basin, and of large-scale restoration in general. He evaluates the relationships among the laws, policies, and institutions governing use and management of the Colorado River for human benefit and those designed to protect and restore the river and its environment. While the book is primarily about the restoration of Colorado River ecosystems, it is also about uncertainty, conflict, competing values, and the nature, pace, and implications of environmental change. --Amazon.com

CONNECT with Nature and Conservation efforts in Oklahoma...

The Oklahoma Wildlife and Prairie Heritage Alliance was formed to provide enhanced coordination, cooperation and communication to conserve the short and mixed grass prairie's diverse habitat and unique wildlife which is found in Western Oklahoma. The organization distributes information to assist landowners, informs the region's communities and businesses, and serves as a conduit for wildlife and prairie heritage programming opportunities for the area.

The Oklahoma Wildlife Federation is Oklahoma's oldest conservation organization. The federation is made up of diverse groups of people with different interests that come together to reach a common goal. Many of their members are birdwatchers, hunters, bikers, fishermen, boaters, campers, and people who genuinely love the Oklahoma outdoors. Oklahoma is facing challenges in funding, challenges in access to public lands for the outdoor enthusiasts, and challenges due to aquatic invasive species. The goal is to find answers to these problems.

The Oklahoma Native Plant Society encourages the study, protection, propagation, appreciation and use of Oklahoma native plants. They publish Oklahoma Native Plant Record, a scholarly journal, conduct an annual Wildflower Workshop, sponsor field trips spring, summer and fall, holds a Wildflower Photo Contest each year, and sponsors a program, Color Oklahoma, to raise funds for planting native wildflowers along Oklahoma's highways. Many of the best botanists, biologists, naturalists and teachers in the state are members.
