CONNECT with Nature and Conservation Efforts in
Indiana...
NICHES Land Trust is a natural-areas
conservation organization that owns and protects
over 2,000 acres of forests, wetlands and prairies in
northwestern Indiana. NICHES' restoration activities
include planting 120,000 trees on the Wabash River
floodplains. Its properties are open to public
for wildlife viewing; and they serve as educational
and research study sites.
Since 1991,
Sustainable Earth has operated as a not-for-
profit membership organization dedicated to the
development of sustainable family farming systems
and community food systems. Farmer and consumer
education emphasizes chemical-free farming
practices
on small, family operated farms that sell directly to
consumers. Our projects include an annual
conference, farm field days, a newsletter and the
Indiana Directory of Organic and Natural Food
Sources. Sustainable Earth operates a demonstration
farm that features organic agriculture, permaculture
design, an off-grid energy system and green buildings.
