In this issue...
  • Station Spotlight
  • Chicken Litter
  • Smart Meters Save $$
  • The Clot Thickens
  • Shortcut Through The Sea
  • Which Came First? The Hydrogen Or The Egg?

  • Chicken Litter
    Chickens

Forget Chicken Little's fears about the sky falling -- chicken litter is the real problem. See how researchers plan to take this concoction of bedding, feathers, manure, and spilled feed and turn it into useful energy products.

    Smart Meters Save $$
    Electric Meter

Wouldn't it be great if appliances were "smart" enough to turn themselves off to conserve energy or on when energy costs are at their lowest during the day? Well, here's a meter worth talking about.

    The Clot Thickens
    Smoggy Air

The latest air pollution discovery reads like a murder mystery. Thousands die from strokes and heart attacks within 24 hours after jumps in particulate matter air pollution. But no one knew why, until now.

    Shortcut Through The Sea
    Arctic Ice

We learned in history class that the efforts of explorers to find the Northwest Passage, the shortcut which would link the Atlantic with the Pacific, were futile. Hundreds of years later, that shortcut, courtesy of climate change, is actually open to shipping.

Which Came First? The Hydrogen Or The Egg?
    Cracked Egg

Hydrogen is a clean burning fuel. But, how do you separate the hydrogen from the carbon dioxide? Researchers say they have a partial answer, egg shells.
